An evening with Lyra Celtica is a journey that will be forever impressed on your memory.

You will laugh, you will cry; you will rejoice at the crescendos; you will be haunted by the overpowering airs, you will be transported to a different place, you will be changed.

It is very rare to experience a band that can have such an impact. The technical expertise is beyond question; Lynn Tocker on accordian is without doubt one of the most gifted players ever to grace an instrument so often associated with dance bands. Watching her play is proof that some people are born with that special something that sets them aside from everyone else. Her biography and credentials can be found elsewhere, suffice to say she has played with and is highly respected by the best in the business.

Frank McGuire on percussion was born with a bodhran in his hand. It is as much part of him as are the toes on his feet. People occasionally say things like ‘they can make the instrument talk’ in Frank’s case not only does he make it talk, he makes it sing. Frank provides the heartbeat for the band and is called upon by so many other great musicians to bring to their music what he brings to Lyra Celtica every time.

Mark Canning is a guitar player’s player. He has the most subtle of touches yet the sound he produces is so right for every piece he is playing.  People will strive for years and be unable to reproduce the exquisite accompaniment that Mark brings to the band.

Individually they are the best at their trade, collectively they are one of the most outstanding bands ever to come together.

If you don’t believe me take my challenge; spend an evening with them, I know you will not regret it and you will be begging for more.
