Frank McGuire

Frankie has been playing music from an early age, coming from a musical background, his grandfather and father both being accomplished musicians in the tradition. He has also gained a reputation in the Pipe Band scene within various bands before returning to traditional music.
Since those early days, he has played with many musicians, such as Sean O’Rourke, Chuck Fleming, Brian McAlpine, Findlay McDonald, Tam White, Fraser Spiers, Alison Brown, Maggie MacInnes, Michael Philips (several times accordion world champion) and many others. Frankie adds his own style of percussion to music, complimenting the other instruments with great sympathy.
He has emerged as one of the finest percussionists on the scene, and has played frequently abroad in places such as Norway, Canada, Ireland, France, Russia, and Holland, as well as having appeared regularly on TV and radio (including the first ever Radio Nan Gaidheal live broadcast from Russia).
Frank also teaches percussion at Newcastle University as part of the traditional music course there.
