April 2008:
Its with a lot of sadness and disappointment that we say au revoir to our friend, the gentle giant and wonderful musician & entertainer Bryan Bowers. Due to the fantastic freedoms granted to us by our kind governments in the Free Western World, Bryan has been ordered to return to the USA by British Immigration, hence terminating his 3 week trip to the UK after just 7 days. The reason for this is that while returning to the UK to visit some old friends, he thought he would play at some folk clubs while here. However this has been deemed unacceptable by the people given the responsibility to deal with immigration to the UK., and he has been put on a plane home. Not via Terminal 5, we expect. Answers on a postcard please....Hopefully, we will see you soon Bryan....
March 08:
One of the highlights for us this month was without doubt a great night at the Manchester Irish Festival. A fantastic night at M19 with some lovely, welcoming people. Thanks to Tony for having us,and to his boy, for doing a more than professional job of the sound., and to everyone else who came along and helped make it such a lovely evening. It was a pleasure to talk to the charming lads from Darlington too, and we hope we can see you all again soon. Well, Lynn certainly hopes so!!
Jan 2008:
Another great start to the year....
at the Fiddles and Beer festival with the brilliant fiddler Archie McAllister....details here
Great fun at David Wortleys Folk Club in Sheffield, where we also had the pleasure of making acquaintance with the eponymous Brian Howard, pipe and whistle maker for the best in the business...and what a friendly city Sheffield is!!! (www.howardmusic.co.uk)
Also great fun at Irvine Folk Club, always good to see friendly faces!!...
Leith Folk Club, and many thanks to Fozzy and the lads for their great control under pressure caused by our late soundcheck., and another great night.
Stonehouse, small but friendly and welcoming crowd...hope to see the folks from the folk megagroup Rudeigin again soon!
Last (for now) but not least, what a great atmosphere at the Fyvie Folk Club...thanks to Ramsay for having us, and greetings to everyone else, especially the “fantastic guitatist, Stuart Powrie”.
Visit our myspace page for other gig dates.
Finally, don’t forget folks, the Girvan Folk Festival is just round the corner. Hope to see you all there.
